What is Tatkal Tickets
Tatkal E-tickets can be booked one day in advance excluding the date of journey from the train originating station. It can be booked on the opening day from 10.00 AM onwards. e.g. If the train is to depart from the originating station on 2nd August, Tatkal Booking will Commence at 10.00 AM on 1st August.
What is the new feature introduced by IRCTC
In order to eliminate this hassle and save the time of passengers, IRCTC has launched a new feature on its portal. With the help of this feature, you can save the information requested in the form by filling it in advance so that time is not wasted as soon as the Tatkal booking is opened. Due to the saving of travel information, the next time you go to book tickets on the portal, you will not need to fill in your information as it is already saved. You just have to press the reservation button. This new feature can be seen on the IRCTC portal.
Firstly the person intending to travel should know that tatkal booking starts at 10 am for AC tickets and 11 am for non-AC reservations. If you have ever booked Tatkal yourself before, then you would know where the problem is the most. Actually, the ticket is cut in a few minutes, the real time goes into filling the reservation form. Due to this delay, we keep getting confirmed tickets.

What will be the facility with this new feature
The passenger gets the facility of 'auto field', that is, all his information is pre-filled and saved. While deducting the ticket, you just have to confirm the address and select the payment mode. Once you go to the payment mode, you will have to choose the option of credit card, UPI or debit card and the ticket money will be deducted from that. In this new way, you will be able to easily deduct confirmed tatkal tickets on IRCTC portal.
Premium Tatkal
Apart from Tatkal ITCTC also offers a service which is known as Premium Tatkal under this service Dynamic Pricing of ticket applicable.
Premium Tatkal (PT) Quota is being introduced by Railway with dynamic
fare pricing. Dynamic fare stands for the fare component which may be increased with the subsequent bookings. Opening days booking to be allowed on/after 10:00 hrs.
Advance Reservation Period (ARP) of Premium Tatkal ticket booking is the same as Tatkal ticket booking.
Features of Premium Tatkal Agents will not be allowed to book tickets in this quota. RAC/ Waitlist Ticket Booking is not allowed. No concession shall be applicable in this Quota and No refund is given to passengers in case of cancellation of confirmed Premium Tatkal quota ticket.
However all rules for tatkal quota booking over the internet are applicable to Premium Tatkal.
